Featuring the world’s only stand up topical gang – Andy Parsons, Sean Meo, Steve Gribbin, Ian Stone and Paul Thorne – the show takes place at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace from 24 to 26 October and at the New Victory Theatre in Houghton on Saturday, 27 October, 2007.
Brainchild of journalist-turned-producer John Connor, The Cutting Edge started as a resident show at the world famous London Comedy Store in 1990.
"It’s remit was to return stand up to a harder topical edge that had been lost to the twee world of observational comedy," said Connor. "It also was and still is the only team comedy show of the modern era. You have to go back to the fifties and ‘The Crazy Gang’ to find the last live stand up comedy group."
The troupe make no bones about bashing presidents, queens and kings and have a knack of finding the hilariously funny side of serious and pressing issues.
"Local fans can look forward to a bit of South Africa political humour, which has been incorporated into their show," said 94.7 Highveld Stereo station manager, Ravi Naidoo.
"Guests can expect a very interactive show where they’ll be asked to put forward relevant topics the comedians can joke about."
Tickets are available through Computicket and are priced from R175 (excl Computicket service charges). Please note that the show has PG restriction for language. For more information log onto www.highveld.co.za.
