Headlining Blacks Only: Black to the Future for the first time is an international comic - New York native and hot emerging comedian, -Marina Franklin, famous first her great wit, but also as a finalist of "Last Comic Standing". Sharing the mic with her on the night are MC David Kau, Riaad Moosa, Krijay Govender, and making his black’s only debut hot young newcomer Trevor Noah.
Marina Franklin is a US Comedy Festival A-lister, having graced the stages of the Montreal Comedy Festival, New York Underground Comedy Festival as well as Ireland's Kilkenny Comedy Festival. Marina made her mark in the states as a finalist in the hugely popular reality show “Last Comic Standing”, where professional and non professional stand-up comedians go head on head for the title of Last Comic Standing. In Marina's case it's dynamite, with an extra helping of explosive humour packed in a small but gorgeous package.
The MC for the evening David Kau, was born with black humor in his genes, and has mastered the art of being a BEEC, Black Economic Empowerment Comedian. You'd never guess that the master of fun was born in humourless Kroonstad, and was encouraged by his family to become a priest. Now that's a laugh.
Now when your side is sufficiently split, we have organised a Doctor in the house to finish you off. Dr Riaad Moosa, medical doctor by qualification, but comedian and magician (graduated from the College of Magic) by profession, will make sure you crawl out of the venue.
It gets even hotter, bring on the spice with a rare mix of brains, beauty, fortitude , creativity and comic genius, Krijay Govender is one of the few female comics to make it onto Blacks Only.
Rising Star, but not a new comer to Blacks Only, is Trevor Noah, give him a few seconds, and you'll see that that this rising star is on his way up.
Ever since its inception, Blacks Only shows have been sold-out before the event, as people of all colours and age groups come together to laugh at themselves, the best medicine around.
